DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - The country - Diving excursions and islands tours in the Caribbean

Saona island, Catalina, Shark diving, St George...when most folks think of the Dominican Republic, they think of beautiful beaches and baseball players. While it's certainly true that many of the major league's best baseball players have come from the tiny island and that the island definitely has some incredible beaches, there's much more to the Dominican Republic than that. Most travelers head to the Dominican Republic because they want a little something different out of their Caribbean experience. Specifically, folks head to the Dominican Republic to get a taste of the culture that seems to radiate from the island.
Once on the island, you'll understand what all of the fuss is about. This is one place that still hasn't been completely transformed by the hand of global tourism. It remains a cheap place to visit and the people extend a warm welcome to all travelers. While some nations might say the right things, folks visiting the Dominican Republic truly get the feeling that the locals want you there.
Bayahibe, where Coral Point Diving is located is on of the most popular places for diving and snorkelling in the country and starting point for unique excursions.
If you are a diver or simply interested in some sea activities like snorkeling or Saona Island Tour or Catalina Excursions remember

that our Coral Point Office is located very, very close to you.

TDI TRIMIX in the Caribbean with Coral Point Diving, Bayahibe - Dominican Republic

Trimix Diver
As your motivation to explore progresses you will find that you may want to go deeper to dive that wreck that is part of history or that cave system that you have read so much about. One of the major limiting factors of going deeper is narcosis; TDI's Trimix Diver course shows how to minimize the effects of narcosis by adding helium to offset the nitrogen in your breathing gas. While taking the Trimix Diver course your TDI Instructor will teach you how to plan and execute dives utilizing as little as 18 percent oxygen and diving to maximum depth of 60 m/200 feet with a blend of helium appropriate for the planned depth. The course covers topics and skills like:
• Dive team planning.
• Gas matching.
• Cylinder labeling.
• Surface marker deployment.
• Equipment configuration.
Advanced Trimix Diver
The TDI Advanced Trimix Diver course is the top level of training for open circuit divers wishing to dive to depths as deep as 100 m / 330 feet utilizing hypoxic levels of oxygen (below 17 percent).Ý This course is perhaps one of the most informative and challenging and upon completion you are among some of the most elite divers. Your TDI Instructor will teach you:
• Equipment management.
• Multiple stage cylinder label and placement.
• Complex decompression planning and contingency planning.
• Dive team awareness and communication.
• Gas monitoring and management.
• Use of travel gasses.
The TDI Advanced Trimix manual is one of the most up to date manuals and includes all the latest of technology and practices being used.

CORAL WATCH DIVER PADI DISTINCTIVE SPECIALTY in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic

Coral Point Diving with the help of PADI instructor Gianluca Lamberti has developed a PADI approved ‘CoralWatch Diver Distinctive Specialty’ specialty in conjunction with Project AWARE, so you can teach, dive and certify your students in coral monitoring and data collection. Coral Point Diving is the only Dive Center in Bayahibe with this SPECIAL rating. This Distinctive Specialty course highlights the impact of coral bleaching and provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify coral health and record data. The specialty is aimed at divers who like to get recognition for their gained knowledge and skills, as it is not a requirement to do the surveys.
The goals of the CoralWatch Coral Health Chart Distinctive Specialty course training are:
1.     To raise awareness about the importance of coral reef conservation and introduce CoralWatch.
2.     To inform students about coral reef impacts such as coral bleaching.

6.    To learn why coral reef need protection and provide coral reef conservation opportunities through participation in Project AWARE’s CoralWatch Project
7.     To submit coral health data, contributing to science and conservation
If you are a PADI Instructor and are interested in applying for the instructor rating all you need to do is

CORAL REGROWTH

The Caribbean staghorn coral Acropora cervicornis is a keystone species of crucial importance to biodiversity, fisheries, and tourism interests. A. cervicornis is particularly vital as fisheries habitat due to it being the only large open-branched coral species of reef slope, back reef, and
lagoon environments, so the loss of this species represents a loss to the biodiversity and carrying capacity of Caribbean reefs. Only 2-3 decades ago, this species was one of the most important reef-building corals on Caribbean reefs, however the species has declined throughout the region,
becoming locally extinct on many reefs
One of the objectives of the coral nurseries is to develop a design that provides ideal growth conditions for the coral fragments. In addition to tracking coral growth rates, the development of research methods that may improve these rates is also of interest.
Currently, projects and programs for reef restoration are under development in few reefs around Bayahibe area and we are proud to say that Coral Point Diving is fully committed. It is a promising starting point!

MARINE CONSERVATION

Do you care about the environment? In today’s world that’s a pretty loaded question. We all know that marine conservation is of increasing importance and now you have the chance to join our team at Coral Point Diving to do your part for the environment.
Coral Point Diving and Gianluca Lamberti, our in-house marine biologist, give you our brand new ECO Internship program in Dominican Republic. Designed to give you the ultimate diving holiday whilst doing your bit for the underwater environment, these Eco Internships offer you, the ECO enthusiast, the scuba diving experience of a lifetime.
Coral Point Divers is looking for anyone who is passionate about the ocean and passionate about diving to come and enjoy this experience. Whether you have never been diving and are looking to start or you are a diver looking to enter our GoPro programs, all are welcome! Diving for a Difference, is a new program we are starting with Coral Point Divers. This program is centered around education and conservation for the wonderful environment where we live and play! We will be working not only for a difference in the water but also with the community to help make the environment more sustainable and last for generations.
To us, each dive can make a difference; maybe we might stop on a drift dive and assess coral reef health, maybe we will stop on a shallow reef dive and check certain areas for bleaching. Fish populations are also a concern with us and we are developing programs to educate local fisherman on sustainable practices.

For all interested in our diving for a difference we not only teach you to carry out Reef Check and Coral Watch but you will also become certified in both. You will have the opportunity to work amongst the local community helping to organize and motivate cleanups, both above and below water.
Please anyone with questions email info@coralpointdiving.com for more information about the program and opportunities here in Bayahibe!
